Beach Glass

Still from Beach Glass

Waves from Lake Ontario tumble glass onto the beach until it is barely distinguishable from the pebbles and sand.

Beach glass fragments are dropped onto the camera's image sensor forming an abstract mosaic.

The collisions of nature and pieces of the constructed environment are shown side-by-side in a minimalist video about the human impact on the shore of Lake Ontario.

This work was recorded on the shore of Niigaani-gichigami (Lake Ontario). This land and water is part of the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat, and the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.

Lake Ontario and its waterfront is part of the treaty lands and territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.

As a settler on this land, I share responsibility for protecting this land and water from further harm and support the ongoing work of Indigenous land and water protectors.
